About the Council
Torver Parish Council consists of five elected councillors and a Clerk who acts as the council's Proper Officer and Responsible Financial Officer. The council is responsible for representing local residents' views to higher tiers of government, maintaining local assets, and managing a small annual budget funded by the precept.
The council operates in accordance with the Local Government Act 1972, the Local Government Finance Act 1992, and all associated legislation. It follows the model Standing Orders and Financial Regulations recommended by the National Association of Local Councils (NALC).
How the council works
Parish council meetings are open to the public and are held throughout the year. Residents are welcome to attend and may address the council during the public participation period at the start of each meeting. Agendas are published at least three clear days before each meeting.

Transparency and accountability
As a smaller authority, Torver Parish Council is required to publish certain information online under the Local Government Transparency Code 2015.
